linux-musl runtime does not contain mhrv-rs-ui

mhrv-rs-linux-musl-amd64.tar.gz does not contain the mhrv-rs-ui. It still expects libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.39', which many systems don't have. Can't run the program even after extracting mhrv-rs-linux-musl-amd64.tar.gz.

@msaremi — accurate report. Two separate issues compounded:

1. The glibc build's effective minimum is 2.39, not 2.35 as advertised. The release.yml comment claims "we link against the 2.35-era glibc via the x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu target triple", but that's not how Rust glibc targeting actually works — the binary links against whatever glibc the build runner has installed, not a target-triple-implied minimum. The self-hosted runner is Ubuntu 24.04 (GLIBC 2.39), so the resulting binary requires GLIBC 2.39 in practice. Ubuntu 22.04 jammy ships GLIBC 2.35, which is too old.

2. The musl variant intentionally skips the UI bin (line 323 in release.yml: if: ... && !endsWith(matrix.target, '-linux-musl') excludes UI from musl builds). Reason: it was scoped for OpenWRT routers / Alpine containers / libc-less systems where there's no display anyway, plus eframe's GL/Vulkan loaders are awkward to link in a fully-static musl world.

So Ubuntu 22.04 users hit both gaps simultaneously: glibc build requires too-new GLIBC, musl build doesn't ship UI.

Path forward (queueing both):

• Short-term fix: move the glibc-amd64 build matrix entry to a GitHub-hosted ubuntu-22.04 runner (or use cross-rs with a 22.04 base image). The binary it produces will require only GLIBC 2.35, working on 22.04 + Debian 12 + Mint 21 + Fedora 36 as originally intended.
• Medium-term fix: ship a separate mhrv-rs-linux-musl-amd64-ui.tar.gz that includes mhrv-rs-ui. eframe's glow backend dlopens libGL.so.1 at runtime rather than linking it, so a musl+ui static-ish build is feasible — needs eval of how wgpu interacts with musl + dlopen since wgpu has more complex platform deps.

For your immediate workaround: the CLI in musl is fully functional (./mhrv-rs after extracting). Edit config.json manually; logs go to stdout. If you absolutely need the UI on Ubuntu 22.04 today, build from source against your system glibc:
